Spirit of Tibet Appeal

Protecting Tibetan religious identity means allowing the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism to continue.

The spiritual lineage of the Dalai Lama spans six centuries. Each reincarnation is believed to be the embodiment of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, who chooses to be reborn to serve humanity. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is cherished by Tibetans. And yet, keeping a photo of this spiritual leader is cause for arrest in Chinese-occupied Tibet.

The Chinese Communist Party has gone so far as releasing a decree saying that reincarnation of living Buddhas must comply with Chinese laws and regulations. We must push back to protect the spirit of Tibet.

Australia Tibet Council has launched a campaign calling for a commitment that Australian leaders will only recognise the future reincarnation of the Dalai Lama as chosen by Tibetans, under the principles of Tibetan Buddhism and traditional methodology. We need your support to make it happen!

Support our Spirit of Tibet Appeal to protect Tibetan religious identity from an occupying force that seeks to destroy it.
